How to upload firmware

This is a quick guide on how to upload custom firmware to your player.
Uploading Firmware
I've had a lot of requests of people who wants the baby steps on how to upload firmware to their player. Therefore i decided to create this pictured guide.
Now, there are generally two methods to upload firmware. The first and easiest is to use the CreativeWizard. Uploading firmware using the CreativeWizard
This method is the easiest. Especially if you have Windows Vista. If you have Windows XP, you are able to use it as well, but there might be some complications. All other OS's are unsupported
Okay. The usage is pretty self-explainatory. But I will cover it anyway.
1. Download the CreativeWizard 2. Extract the file you downloaded in step 1.
3. You should now see two files. Install the program and launch the CreativeWizard
4. Press upload firmware
5. Select your player and press upload firmware If your player doesn't show up in this list: * Make sure your player is connected * Try installing a newer version of Windows Media Player * Try reinstalling the CD that came with your player.
6. Select your firmware file and press open.
7. If this shows up: Congratulations! You've successfully uploaded custom firmware to your player.
Uploading firmware using a hacked firmware upgrader
The second and trickier way is to use a hacked version of the original updater for your player. As for now, the updater is only hacked for the two following players: the zvm (zen vision:m) 30 gb and the zvm 60 gb. The procedure for using these hacked versions are pretty similar.
Here it goes:
1. Download a hacked updater See links above
2. Get yourself a firmware file (make sure it is for your player). This will usually be a theme or font firmware made by the CreativeWizard or fontchanger.
3. The firmware can come in several different formats. Usually you'll get a file named yaddayadda.bin. Where yaddayadda could be anything, and bin is the extension. Windows is a bit weird when it comes to file extensions. Usually you'll see that the file really has the extension .bin, but sometimes it's hidden.
This means: If your file is named yaddayadda.bin, rename it to nk.bin If your file is named yaddayadda, rename it to nk
4. Copy the nk.bin file to c:\ctjbfw\newbin (if the folder doesn't exist, create it, and eventually replace c:\ with the drive you've got windows installed on)
4. Run ZENVisionM_30GB_Firmware_updat
er.exe and click upgrade.
5. Click yes on any warnings.
Now, the updater utility may tell you that it failed, although it really worked quite well.
Enjoy your new theme, or font or whatever you changed.
